Why Pools go Green in Naples

Too many dogs in a swimming pool
Green pool have many causes!

If your pool is being maintained, cleaned, and the chemicals balanced correctly, then you may never have the problem of green water in your swimming pool. Avoiding problems, however, can help stop them before they start, so why do pools go green in Naples. The seasons in Florida, however, have a significant effect on the quality of your water in your pool. How come? Our summers bring tropical weather systems, torrential rain and afternoon thunderstorms can create havoc on a swimming pool. All of that unwanted extra water in the pool can unbalance the chemicals very quickly. Once chemicals are not correct, then a green pool can soon follow, especially with the high temperatures that we endure down here in the south. Letting us know if you think your pool has received more than a fair share of rain, allows us to come out and check the water chemistry, especially important if you are having more people than usual in your pool. The load on your pool is also another factor, when friends and family come to visit, those additional bodies floating peacefully in the pool can make change the balance significantly. All of that tanning cream, sweat, occasional urine, and dirt adds up, and before long, your pool chemistry is out of wack! Pets also bring their challenges; our springer spaniel is under the impression she is a mermaid. She jumps into the pool at every opportunity. Being dry all day is not an option for her. She brings everything she has been in contact with into the pool, dirty paws, dirty hair, shedding hair blocking the filters, all lead to a green pool before long. The best thing you can do to avoid any problems is to have your pool taken care of professionally. If you are having friends come into town, let your pool tech know so he can keep a special eye on the chemistry and avoid problems.
